    a rhyme

A rhyme for everytime, this one's for Christmas. (read aloud for full-effect)

    Have a blessed Christmas!

ps. Christmas service this Sunday is at 6pm, with dinner after service.

    Christmas is coming,
Oh boy, I wonder what I'll be getting.
I hope mom really got the hint,
When I told her about the two hundred dollar skirt I'd seen.

That pair of shoes the entire year I've yearned,
Maybe I should get dad to buy it for my Christmas present.
Since he always says he doesn't know what I wished,
This will make up for all those years he missed.

I've no idea what to get for my friends,
They might think me a cheapskate if I don't get presents above rm 10.
What if I don't give a present to somebody who gave me one,
They might not give me one next year then I'll have none.

Why does the Christmas tree look so bare?
We need more of those pretty glass ornaments from the Christmas fair.
As well as more scented candles and candy canes,
For next week's Christmas BBQ, oh I hope it doesn't rain.

I hope my turkey turns out well,
And like last year my guests will find it just as swell.
We should get those 5 litre boxes of red wine again,
Our guests will go home happy even if it there's rain.

Why aren't the Christmas carollers dressed in a Christmas colour,
So unauthentic, maybe next year I'll suggest and do them a favour.
Yerr, why is Silent Night so off tune,
Really, they should know our ears are not immune.

Oh dear oh dear, what has Christmas become?
The day when the wrapping papers get to get undone.
The day when the last Christmas carols are sung,
When everyone enjoys eating merrily and jingle bells are rung.

Turkey for dinner is a must,
Eating fish would be utter disgust.
When cranberry sauce defines a Christmas dinner,
We all know we might as well be lost forever.

Nativity scenes become a hot-seller at the malls,
And the baby Jesus is all smiles.
And mother Mary looks as if she loves the manger,
Oh the lambs couldn't look any cuter.

We sing "Away in the manger, no crib for a bed",
And not a thought about what it really means goes thru' our head.
    "Gloooooria in exelsis deo'
Is only fun to drag the 'Gloooooo...'

This Christmas, be joyful and merry,
But for the birth of Jesus, not for the sherry.
Who cares if your friend didn't give you a present,
We're celebrating the entrance of the greatest Gift to this world so bent.

    Take heed, and rejoice.
Be on guard and lift up your voice.
That on this day, the promise of the Messiah was fulfilled,
And for this very fact we should be thrilled!
